TÜV Rheinland FS Engineer (SIS) Eligibility
FUNCTIONAL SAFETY COURSE ELIGIBILITY
The provision of the issuing of a certificate on successful completion of the TÜV Rheinland FS Engineer (SIS) course is subject to the participant passing the course pre-requisites.
There are different forms for those taking the course for the first time or renewing their certificate for the first time (by taking the course) and the second renewal.
Following the relevant instructions below to submit your eligibility paperwork.
All evidence shall be issued in English.
ELIGIBILITY FOR FIRST COURSE OR FIRST RENEWAL
The eligibility for completing the course and receiving the TÜV Rheinland FS Engineer (SIS) certificate is:
- Holds Engineering Degree (Bachelor’s minimum) OR
- Provide letter from employer stating that the participant works at an engineer level of responsibility; AND
- Demonstration of more than 3 year’s experience in the area of Functional Safety
Complete the form below demonstrating your experience in Functional Safety. The form needs to be completed as concisely as possible, the experience does not need to be concurrent. Ensure that sufficient detail is included on the specific tasks completed and against which standards to enable the confirmation of eligibility more easily.
We recognize that other industrial experiences will be relevant to the participants roles. However, on this form we are only interested in FS activities so please don’t include other experience e.g. Hazardous Area experience.
The final pages are for data processing purposes, if you select that TÜV Rheinland can’t contact you then you WILL NOT receive your certificate upon successful completion of the course.
The form should be submitted as soon as possible so that the eligibility can be confirmed soonest. Participants will not be allowed to attend the course until this has been confirmed. Therefore, the sooner this is submitted the better, you may be asked to include more details.
Submit your evidence to training@esc.uk.net.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SECOND RENEWAL
The second renewal of the TÜV Rheinland FS Engineer (SIS) certificate requires the exam to be re-taken as a minimum. It is highly recommended to take the course once more due to anticipated changes in the standards between the previous course (10 years earlier) and the current day.
The form for second renewal requires the completion of a different form. Please complete this form as concisely as possible with relevant detail on FS activities including Continued Professional Development in the last 5 years.
If the full course is being taken then ESC will pay the €500 fee to TÜV Rheinland. If you are just taking the exam then this will be invoiced to the participant by TÜV Rheinland directly.
Submit your evidence to training@esc.uk.net.
