ESC to present at SIScon Online 2020
ESC will present at the SIScon (Safety Instrumented System Conference) Online 2020 which will be held on 1st December and it is the first dedicated international conference on Safety Instrumented Systems.
The online conference is themed ‘SIS and IEC 61511 for Process Plants’ and will address the many challenges in SIS with speakers from Australia, Brunei, Germany, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, Singapore, UAE and UK.
Pros and Cons of Different Methods of SIL Determination
Simon’s presentation will explore the pros and cons of the various methods available for determining SIL targets for Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs). Including:
- Assessment of risk reduction from protective systems and SIL
- Using fault tree analysis to calculate event frequencies (quantitative method)
- Using risk graphs to conduct your SIL assessment (qualitative assessment)
- Practical tools for determining SILs
- Applying LOPA (Layer Of Protection Analysis) to determine more realistic and manageable SIL targets (semi-quantitative method)
Date: 1st December 2020
