ESC experts to present at the EBSA 2022 Conference
ESC experts at the EBSA 2022 Conference
The EBSA 2022 Conference follows from the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and aims to be the meeting place for biosafety professionals to connect and share effective and practical approaches learned during the pandemic.
ESC’s presentation will be looking at the key standards which are now shaping the way the Biosafety Industry is managing risk in high containment facilities.
Functional Safety: The Missing Piece
The presentation ‘Functional Safety: The Missing Piece’ by Jaspreet and Simon will look at how the regulators are now taking a more holistic approach and inspecting all technical areas of operation including biosafety, process safety and functional safety. Organisations are also increasingly becoming aware of the need and requirements to demonstrate compliance with Industry Standards which are considered Good Practice.
ESC’s speakers will be discussing the following topics in the conference.
- IEC 61511 – Functional Safety; how this specialist subject which has traditionally been applied to industries such as oil and gas is being applied to the Biosafety Industry;
- The concept of risk reduction using Safety Instrumented Systems;
- How IEC 61511 can be implemented into the organisation’s wider Biorisk Management System framework in accordance with ISO 35001;
- Case studies showing the application of Functional Safety to Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) and Biosafety Level 4 (BSL4) facilities
The presentation is aimed at those organisations that handle and/or process hazardous pathogens in their facility, specifically those individuals who have a role in driving and implementing the safety strategy on site and are responsible for demonstrating to regulators that the risk on site is as low as reasonably practicable.
ESC will be presenting on Day 1, 19th May at 2pm.
